I have had a good amount of success spraying the nitro but as I build up the layers, there are certain areas with indentations. I try to spray that one area with numerous coats but it does not seem to fill in just that portion. What is the best way to fill these dents? Thanks |

drop fill with lacquer, cure, sand level and buff is best. drop fill with CA, scrape with razor blade scraper then sand and buff is darn near invisible and quick. I use thin and super fine capillary tipped pipettes |

A nitro drop fill does need a week or so to cure otherwize it will shrink later and reveal the fill. |

CA rocks for drop filling. I like using the thicker 'Super T' as compared to the regular, water-like 'HotStuff'. |

drop fill with lacquer. It'll burn into itself and a match the existing finish. Like Nelson said though it needs to set a while. |

I have used the CA fill before (over nitro) .. it will look good for a while but over time, like a year or two, as the nitro shrinks and sinks, the CA will show as a spot that doesnt sink - its too hard, and it will likely leave a witness line - so, go for the nitro - take some of your regular spray stuff, put into a mason jar and leave it open for a day or two - it will thicken up, and be great for drop filling because it wont sink as much, requiring less drops. |

Thanks for all the great info. I'm using a colored lacquer, can I use the CA to level the area and then spary over it with the lacquer for the final coat? or does this not solve any of the problems associated with drop filling with CA as stated above |

Turbo are you going to spray over everthing or do a drop fill? If didn't go through color, you can just drop fill with nitro. If went through color can be a problem, but make up a painter palet(sp) and mix until get it down. Put that in as drop and then clear. I don't know about the CA thing because like I think Tony said the lacquer will shrink in time and the CA won't. If this is during part of your finish process, and filling before last coats, same thing and level as normal and then final coats. I. |

So if most of your colour coats are done, you need to fill with nitro. The CA will ABSOLUTELY (IMO, I would not do it, or recommend it) show thru as a blotch of unshrunken finish over time. I would only use CA if you have only sprayed one or two coats, and its close to the wood ... with all that nitro underneath it its trouble waiting to happen. |

One other tidbit .... by the time you reach the final couple coats, you should have no indents. They should have been completely flat sanded away by now. I now shoot 6 coats (over Zpoxy), drop fill if required possibly even after 2 or 3 if something shows up, flat sand the heck out of it, then shoot 4 more. |

Thanks for all the info,very helpful. How thick is your lacquer typically when all is said and done? I guess I've been suprised at how thin it is even after numerous coats |
